Overview

The Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Live Training Course is designed to build on the knowledge base of experienced emergency medicine and critical care ultrasound professionals using the most up-to-date ACEP ultrasound practice guidelines.


This course is taught by leading emergency medicine & critical care ultrasound experts and incorporates comprehensive lectures, interactive case presentations, and extensive hands-on skills training. All hands-on sessions feature a 3:1 participant to expert faculty ratio with standardized patient models and inanimate phantoms ensuring all participants gain improved competence and are able to immediately integrate the skills learned into clinical practice. Each participant receives scanning checklists and a log of exams performed to use for POCUS certification or hospital credentialing if needed.


For the most comprehensive Emergency Medicine Ultrasound education, combine this program with the Introductory level course to augment knowledge/competence and improve scanning skills. A combined tuition discount is offered along with cost-savings associated with travel expenses.

Objectives

  • Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Emergency and Critical Care ultrasound examinations.
  • Increase competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques & interpretation criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy.
  • State an algorithm for uses of bedside ultrasound during cardiac arrest, sepsis, shock, and hypotension.
  • Identify the normal anatomy and function of the right heart.
  • Recognize and quantify tricuspid valve and pulmonic valve disease.
  • Recognize the sonographic characteristics of pulmonary emboli and common echocardiographic mimics.
  • Evaluate fluid responsiveness in the critically ill patient.
  • Recognize the sonographic appearance of individual nerves and list the advantages provided when ultrasound is used for performing regional nerve blocks.
  • Perform testicular ultrasound and recognize acute abnormalities.
