Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access & Ultrasound Guided Nerve Blocks for Emergency Medicine Virtual Conference provide participants a strong foundation to perform central and peripheral line techniques, and best practices to integrate ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques into their emergency or critical care practice.

Objectives

Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform ultrasound-guided vascular access and emergency medicine nerve block procedures.
Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization to produce diagnostic images.
List the advantages and disadvantages of the “In-Plane” and “Out-of-Plane” and the “Direct” vs. “Indirect” ultrasound-guided vascular procedures.
Identify ultrasound imaging characteristics of vessels and contiguous anatomy to determine the optimal approach for vascular access.
Cite ultrasound imaging characteristics of vascular pathology that would indicate a vessel is not suitable for vascular access.
Demonstrate the use of ultrasound guidance for Central Line and Peripheral Line vascular access.
List the advantages of using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques.
Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper and lower extremity regional anesthesia nerve blocks.
Perform PECC and TAP blocks using ultrasound guidance.
Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, diagnostic/treatment accuracy and interpretation criteria to integrate the skills learned into clinical practice.

Audience

The Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access & Guided Nerve Blocks Emergency Medicine Course is intended for any Physicians, Sonographers, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), Physician Assistants or any other emergency medical professionals who have a need to know how to perform and integrate ultrasound-guided techniques for vascular access and nerve block applications in their emergency department.
