Objectives

  • State the clinical indications for performing a transcranial Doppler examination
  • Recognize the sonographic anatomy of the intracranial vascular system
  • List examination protocols and scan techniques for successful Doppler evaluation of the intracranial vasculature
  • List the types of hemodialysis access conduits and define the role of the vascular laboratory in the pre-and-post-procedure assessment of hemodialysis access patients
  • Discuss the technical protocols employed for hemodialysis access pre-procedure arterial and venous mapping and post-procedure assessment of frequently encountered pathologies
  • List the different surgical techniques used for organ transplants and the implications for findings during post-operative sonography
  • Identify Doppler findings in the normal transplant organ and state the implications of commonly seen abnormal findings
