Objectives

  • Outline the S/I Joint clinical examination techniques.
  • Recognize the various noninvasive tx techniques available.
  • Recall the Dx block concept to tell if the joint is causing pain.
  • Recall the evidence that prolotherapy works for S/I joint pain.
  • State the technique and limitations of U/S guidance when performing S/I joint injections.
  • Recognize how to find the standard U/S views of the clefts vs the inferior joint to perform an U/S guided S/I joint injection.
  • Increase confidence when performing facet injections utilizing the paramedian sagittal articular process view and the tile roof articular process view.

Audience

Physicians, PA’s, sonographers and other medical professionals who will be involved with performing Ultrasound-Guided injections of the S/I Joint and/or Facets. Physicians may include (but is not limited to) radiology, sports medicine, MSK, PM & R, and primary care.
