Overview

Private Use of Ultrasound for COVID-19 training course is specifically designed for any medical professional (Physician, Advanced Practice/Mid-level Provider, Sonographer, etc) who is working with critically ill COVID-19 patients and is interested in integrating point-of-care ultrasound in clinical practice. The Point-of-Care Ultrasound for COVID-19 training course provides participants a strong foundation to perform the core ultrasound examinations that have been identified as helpful in the diagnosis and management of COVID-19 and is taught by leading emergency medicine and critical care ultrasound experts. Hosted in our learning management system, this course features ten (10) modules with video lectures, scanning demonstrations, case studies, interactive quizzes and recommended readings with fifteen (15) months unlimited access, as well as a One (1) Day (7 hours) 1:1 faculty to participant hands-on scanning workshop with live models and phantoms at our facility in St. Petersburg, FL. For the best ultrasound education experience, completion of the online course prior to attending the hands-on scanning workshop is recommended.

Objectives

  • Increase participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret emergency and critical care ultrasound examinations pertinent to the diagnosis and management of the critically ill / COVID-19 patient.
  • State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization of system controls.
  • Demonstrate image orientation, transducer placement, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound evaluation of pneumothorax, pneumonia / lung consolidation.
  • Outline scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen, aorta, and adult heart, and lower extremity DVT.
  • State an algorithm for performing a multi-system ultrasound approach to the evaluation of the critically ill patient using bedside ultrasound.
  • Apply diagnostic criteria for the interpretation of lung, focused cardiac, DVT, and RUSH ultrasound examinations.
  • Increase competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical practice.
  • Increase knowledge and skills to perform ultrasound examinations (specific exams based on specialty tracks selected).
  • Demonstrate appropriate scan techniques and protocols for performing ultrasound examinations.
  • Improve scanning skills and increase diagnostic confidence.
  • Perform examinations under supervised conditions to help fulfill credentialing and/or individual certification requirements.

This Live, hands-on Point of Care Ultrasound for COVID-19 course is designed for Physicians, mid-level providers, sonographers and other medical professional who will be involved with performing and/or interpreting emergency medicine and critical care ultrasound examinations for the diagnosis and management of critically ill / COVID-19 patients.
