Overview

The Blended Introduction & Advanced Critical Care Ultrasound Training Course provides participants a strong foundation to perform and/or interpret the core and advanced ultrasound applications in an emergency or critical care setting as outlined in the WINFOCUS and ACEP ultrasound practice guidelines. The Blended Education format provides flexibility while saving you time and minimizing travel costs.

Begin with the self-paced online course: Taught by leading emergency and critical care medicine ultrasound experts, the online course incorporates comprehensive lectures, case presentations, and post-activity quizzes covering core and advanced ultrasound applications with fifteen (15) months unlimited access.

Then attend Scanning Skills Workshop: Join us in sunny St. Petersburg, FL for a Two (2) Day (12 Hours) scanning skills workshop at our state-of-the-art facility. The extensive hands-on scanning skills workshop features the industry lowest 3:1 participant to faculty ratio allowing the participant to immediately integrate the skills learned into clinical practice. Hands-on skills training includes cardiac, trauma, DVT, ultrasound for shock & hypotension, ultrasound assessment of hydration status and fluid responsiveness, ultrasound-guided vascular access, and more.

Objectives

  • Increase participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret critical care ultrasound examinations
  • State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization of system controls.
  • Demonstrate scan protocols for focused evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST exam), pneumothorax, abdomen, aorta, adult heart, and lower extremity DVT.
  • Demonstrate image orientation, transducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound guided vascular access, thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture.
  • Differentiate normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen, adult heart, and those associated with abdominal sepsis involving the hepatobiliary, renal, and GI systems.
  • State an algorithm for assessing causes of shock and hypotension using bedside ultrasound.
  • Outline indications and applications of color and spectral Doppler in the emergency and critical care setting.
  • Recognize ultrasound characteristics associated with cardiomyopathies, pericardial effusions, coronary artery disease, and diastolic dysfunction.
  • Assess/evaluate right ventricular function, hydration status and fluid responsiveness in the emergency and critical care settings.
  • Outline the training requirements and Indications for transesophageal echocardiography.

Tuition

Registration: $4,355.00


Daily continental breakfast and afternoon snack will also be provided during Hands-On Workshops.

The Advanced Registration Tuition is applied to registration submitted and paid/postmarked more than 30 days in advance of the course.

The Regular Registration Tuition is applied to registrations submitted between 15-30 days in advance of the course.

The Late Registration Tuition is strictly enforced and is applied to ALL registrations submitted within two weeks (14 days) of the start of the course.
