Overview

Blended Introduction to Critical Care and Advanced Critical Care Ultrasound Course is intended for any medical professional involved with performing emergency medicine, critical care, or point-of-care ultrasound examinations. The Blended Introduction to Critical Care and Advanced Critical Care Ultrasound Course is designed to provide a strong foundation to perform the introduction and advanced ultrasound applications as outlined in the ACEP emergency medicine and critical care ultrasound practice guidelines and WINFOCUS. Taught by leading emergency medicine and critical care ultrasound faculty, this self-directed course contains (2) two Online Courses containing multiple modules and includes recommended reading assignments, online video lectures, case presentations, and post-activity quizzes. Enrollment is valid for fifteen (15) months for both online courses and begins the moment the participant is enrolled in them. Combined with the scan workshops (2 Days/12 Hours) you will be scanning live models and inanimate phantoms with a 3:1 participant to faculty scan ratio at our facility in St. Petersburg, FL which provides the perfect opportunity to improve your scanning proficiency. After this course the participant's will see a noticeable increase in diagnostic and scanning skills and immediately be able to implement skills learned into clinical practice. For the best ultrasound education experience, completion of the online course prior to hands on scanning is recommended.

Objectives

  • Increase participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Critical care ultrasound examinations
  • State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization of system controls.
  • Perform ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST exam).
  • Demonstrate image orientation, transducer placement, and scan protocols for performing thoracic ultrasound examinations for pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, Lung consolidation, and Covid-19.
  • Outline scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen, aorta, and adult heart, and lower extremity DVT.
  • Demonstrate image orientation, transducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound guided vascular access.
  • Differentiate normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen and adult heart.
  • State an algorithm for assessing causes of shock and hypotension using bedside ultrasound.
  • Outline protocols for performing thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture.
  • Increase competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical practice.
  • Integrate Spectral & Color Doppler for Evaluation of Cardiac Disease.
  • Perform a focused cardiac ultrasound examination.
  • Recognize ultrasound Characteristics associated with Cardiomyopathies, Pericardial Effusions, Coronary Artery Disease, and Diastolic Dysfunction.
  • Assess / Evaluate Right Ventricular Function

  • Identify sonographic characteristics associated with abdominal sepsis involving the hepatobiliary, renal, and GI systems.

Tuition

Registration: $4,355.00


Daily continental breakfast and afternoon snack will also be provided during Hands-On Workshops.

The Advanced Registration Tuition is applied to registration submitted and paid/postmarked more than 30 days in advance of the course.

The Regular Registration Tuition is applied to registrations submitted between 15-30 days in advance of the course.

The Late Registration Tuition is strictly enforced and is applied to ALL registrations submitted within two weeks (14 days) of the start of the course.
