ROBERT DE JONG JR.

RDMS, RDCS, RVT
Bob graduated in 1976 from The Johns Hopkins School of Radiologic Technology in Baltimore, Maryland.. His first job was at a hospital in Towson, Maryland, where they wanted someone to learn a new imaging modality—ultrasound. Bob volunteered and was trained on the job and by attending evening classes in ultrasound sponsored by The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The rest as they say is history. He recently retired from The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was the technical manager of the radiology ultrasound division for over 28 years. He has started his own company, Bob DeJong, LLC to provide ultrasound education. In 2018, he published his first book, Craig’s Essentials of Sonography and Patient Care. This year his second textbook will be released, Sonography Scanning: Principles and Protocols 5th Edition. He has authored chapters in many ultrasound textbooks. He has been honored by The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, SDMS, with The Joan Baker Pioneer Award and has fellow member status in both the SDMS and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, AIUM. His wife Linda, whom he married in 1975, has supported his career. Bob speaks at national and local meetings on various ultrasound topics. He is an active member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, SDMS, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, AIUM. In his non-ultrasound time, he is active in his church, reads, attends local and national theater productions, especially musicals, and play with his cats Maggie and Ollie.
