Dr. Kalava did his Anesthesiology residency at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, New York, where he also served as the Chief Resident. He then completed his fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK. He is credited to have discovered and described newer regional anesthetic techniques such as the male Pudendal Nerve Block, T1 Paravertebral Nerve Block and Trapezius Plane Blocks. He has also won numerous awards for his research endeavors and has been involved in countless research studies.
