Topics & Objectives


This multiple-module comprehensive review is designed for physicians preparing to take the ARDMS Physician in Vascular Interpretation (PVI) board examination. The course is based on the information included on the ARDMS PVI examination content outline and is structured with exam specific tutorials, interactive case presentations and a “mock” examination.

A comprehensive course syllabus is available for download for on-demand webinar participants. The program is taught by leading experts in the vascular ultrasound profession.

At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
  1. Increase the participant’s knowledge better interpret vascular ultrasound examinations.
  2. Analyze Doppler/Color physics factors that affect optimal Doppler examinations and commonly seen Doppler/Color artifacts, which may affect diagnostic accuracy.
  3. Differentiate normal/abnormal imaging, spectral Doppler and Color Doppler findings seen with carotid and peripheral arterial and venous disease.
  4. List the role of indirect testing in the evaluation of lower extremity arterial/venous disease.
  5. Interpret complex carotid and peripheral vascular case studies in an interactive interpretation session format.
  6. Recognize the role of ultrasound for vascular intervention procedures.
  7. Describe ultrasound findings associated with aortic endograft leaks.
  8. Differentiate normal and abnormal spectral Doppler characteristics and diagnostic criteria associated with abdominal visceral evaluation and dialysis access graft evaluation.
  9. Cite the role of TCD vascular ultrasound and analysis of TCD examination findings.
  10. Identify areas of weakness to better prepare for the PVI examination.
Target Audience
Any physician preparing to take the PVI examination and physicians who desire a comprehensive review of vascular ultrasound or who need to fulfill vascular CME requirements. Also, sonographers and vascular technologists who desire a comprehensive review of vascular interpretation and/or need to fulfill CME credit requirements.
