Objectives and Topics

  1. Upon completion of the program, the participant should be able to:
    1. Increase the participant's knowledge to better perform and/or
    2. interpret Echocardiography examinations.
    3. Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system
    4. optimization to produce diagnostic images (sonographer)
    5. and recognize potential imaging errors. (Physician)
    6. Demonstrate routine scan protocols to evaluate an adult patient
    7. using 2D/M-Mode/Color Flow & Doppler echocardiographic
    8. techniques and demonstrate appropriate measurements. Identify
    9. normal/abnormal characteristics of 2D cardiac anatomy and state
    10. the role of cardiac Doppler and the necessary qualitative/
    11. quantitative measurements.
    12. Identify the ultrasound findings associated with valvular heart
    13. disease, cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, pericardial
    14. disease and cardiac masses.
    15. List the latest imaging techniques in quantification of right and left
    16. ventricle wall motion. Document findings and apply standardized
    17. guidelines during compilation of an Echocardiography worksheet
    18. (sonographer) and dictated report (Physician).
    19. List the steps necessary for system optimization during contrast
    20. echo imaging.
    21. Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques &
    22. interpretation criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy.

Target Audience
This hands-on adult echocardiography ultrasound course is intended for any medical professional involved with performing or interpreting adult cardiac ultrasound examinations. Participants may include (but is not limited to): emergency, critical care, hospitalists, internal medicine, primary care physicians, PA’s and sonographers.
