Of all the challenges a physician faces with operating a private practice, profitability ranks among the most important. Faced with slimmer earnings and the hassles of dealing with managed care payers, more physicians than ever are looking for revenues beyond their traditional clinical practice. The good news is that with the right strategy, physicians can expand their offerings, grow their business, improve profitability, and better meet their patients needs. Incorporating diagnostic imaging services is one strategy proving to increase patient satisfaction, improve patient outcomes, and increase profitability.

These days, just about every cardiology practice does its own echocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter and arrhythmia monitoring. Reimbursement for all of these increases revenues and likely offers the patient a more convenient option. Let’s take that one step further. If you already own an ultrasound system and are using it solely for echocardiograms, why not expand your services and also offer carotid and peripheral vascular ultrasound? Talk about one-stop shopping for your patients!

So how does one go about incorporating new imaging modalities to increase revenue streams? Education is the best place to start. Understanding the testing modality, when it is indicated, how to interpret and how to bill are all critical components to a successful program. That is where we come in. Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute is the leading continuing education provider for physicians and health care providers. With 38 years of experience and over 180,000 participants trained, we can help you take your private practice to the next level.
