Before You Come to the Course
Course participants will need to review the pre-recorded online webinar Evaluation of Venous Insufficiency for Vein Therapy (included with course tuition) by Rob Daigle, BA, RVT, FSVU, prior to attending the course.
In addition to the registration confirmation e-mail, an e-mail for logging in to the pre-recorded webinar will be sent out two weeks prior to the program start date. Course participants will have access to the webinar up to two weeks after the course ends. |
Course Itinerary (coming soon)
Course Objectives:
At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
- Identify the anatomy/physiology of the upper and lower extremity venous systems.
- Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this information for recognizing technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.
- Perform routine scan protocols and document Doppler waveforms for venous evaluations of the lower extremity for DVT and venous insufficiency.
- Recognize image characteristics of acute versus chronic DVT.
- Scan superficial vessels and perforators to rule in venous insufficiency and to determine if the patient is at risk for revascularization of a ligated vein.
- Increase the participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lower extremity venous evaluation for vein closure procedures.
- Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.
Course Topics:
- Doppler fundamentals
- Venous anatomy/scan techniques and normal characteristics
- Evaluation of venous pathology
- Live demo: evaluation for DVT
- Upper extremity venous evaluation
- Saphenous vein mapping
- Duplex/Color examination of venous insufficiency
- Venous case studies
- Evaluation of venous insufficiency for vein therapy (webinar, see "Before You Come to the Course" above)
- Hands-on sessions
