Success Stories
The level of understanding rose gradually over the three days to where I felt comfortable enough to do studies and interpret studies as well as correct others with benefit to patient care.
John Mabayoje, MD
I have not been to a meeting or course where the speakers -- each and everyone of them -- were as prepared, and communicative as yours were.
Jeffrey H. Johnson, MD
An excellent program overall. Difficult to know how to improve it.
Stephen Weiss, MD

Course Itinerary

Course Objectives:

At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the anatomy/physiology of the cerebrovascular system.
  2. Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this information for identifying technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.
  3. Perform routine scan protocols, and Doppler calculations in a complete carotid duplex/color examination.
  4. Identify normal/abnormal spectral Doppler/ color characteristics; explain methods for obtaining quantitative information and state the diagnostic relevance of each measurement.
  5. Desscribe and characterize plaque and other pathology associated with cerebrovascular disease.
  6. Discuss Intima-Media Thickness measurements and evaluation and their clinical significance as a screening method for cardiovascular disease.
  7. Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.
  8. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examinations.

Course Topics:

  • Doppler fundamentals
  • Anatomy/physiology and disease progression
  • Normal spectral analysis
  • Carotid scan protocol
  • Color optimization
  • Carotid stenosis assessment
  • Interactive interpretation case studies
  • Imaging “Do’s & Don’ts”
  • Technical worksheet/document waverforms and measurements
  • Structure report
  • Intima-Media Thickness: Measurement and Evaluation
  • Hands-on sessions
