New! ULTRA P.A.S.S. Registry Review: Vascular Ultrasound Technology Flashcards and Audio CDs
Prepare for your boards with Gulfcoast's "Preparation Agenda for Study Success" tools!
The ULTRA Registry Review Flashcards provide a method of final testing to determine the areas of weakness that may require further study, while at the same time reinforcing the material with which you are already comfortable. These flashcards also contain two audio CDs which narrate continuous questions and answers to further reinforce the study process (system requirements: Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 or later, 2000, or XP, 16MB RAM). This set of flashcards contains 390 questions and answers (including assorted images, diagrams and charts) designed after the actual registry format. The decks measure 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 for convenient carrying, have space on each card for personal notes, and have two removable fastener rings to allow the decks to be shuffled to change question order. An enclosed CME Quiz ($50.00 processing fee) can be submitted to Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute for 12.0 AMA Cat. 1 CME credits, if needed. All AMA Category 1 credits are acceptable for ARDMS requirements.
General Course Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- 1. Identify areas that require further study
- 2. Demonstrate comprehension of the information required for successful completion of the Vascular Ultrasound registry examination.
Objectives
Upon completion of these modules, you should be able to accomplish the following:
Section I: CEREBROVASCULAR
- Describe cerebrovascular anatomy and physiology
- Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics of the cerebrovascular system
- Explain routine carotid duplex/color scanning protocols
- Discuss patient presentation and common indications for ultrasound examination of the cerebrovascular system
- Recognize characteristics of commonly seen carotid artery disease
- List the various types of treatment for carotid artery disease
- Compare the testing methods, interpretation, and limitations of arteriography, MR angiography, and computed tomography
Section II: VENOUS
- Describe the anatomy and physiology associated with the deep and superficial venous system
- Identify normal imaging characteristics deep and superficial venous system
- Explain routine venous scanning protocols for the ultrasound evaluation of the upper and lower extremity
- Discuss patient presentation and common indications for ultrasound examination of the venous system
- Recognize imaging and Doppler characteristics associated with acute and chronic thrombosis and venous insufficiency
- Discuss treatment methods for venous disease
Section III: PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL
- Describe anatomy and physiology of the peripheral arterial system
- Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics of the upper and lower extremity arteries
- Explain routine scanning protocols for the duplex/color evaluation of the upper and lower extremity arteries
- Discuss patient presentation & common indications for the non-invasive evaluation of arterial disease
- Compare the testing methods, interpretation, and limitations of arteriography MR angiography, and computed tomography
- Describe physiologic testing methods for evaluation of upper and lower extremity arterial disease
- Discuss the various types of treatment for upper and lower extremity arterial disease
Section IV: ABDOMINAL / VISCERAL
- Describe abdominal vascular anatomy and physiology
- Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics associated with the abdominal vasculature
- Explain routine scanning protocols for the duplex/color evaluation of renal artery stenosis, portal venous disease, and mesenteric ischemia
- Discuss common indications for performing duplex/color evaluation of the abdominal vasculature
- Recognize imaging and Doppler/color characteristics of commonly seen pathology of the abdominal vasculature
Section V: Miscellaneous Conditions/Tests
- Explain examination protocols and criteria used for performing preoperative vein mapping
- Identify imaging and duplex/color characteristics associated with pseudoaneurysm and A-V fistulas
- Describe routine scanning protocols for the ultrasound evaluation of renal transplants
- Discuss indirect and duplex/color examination protocols and diagnostic criteria associated with impotence testing
- Define temporal arteritis and describe presenting symptoms
- Explain examination protocols and diagnostic criteria used to evaluate thoracic outlet syndrome
Section VI: Quality Assurance
- Define sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, and accuracy
- Describe acceptable methods of infection control and patient safety
- Explain policies associated with instrument maintenance and documentation of examination accuracy
