New! Prepare for your boards with Gulfcoast's ULTRA "Preparation Agenda for Study Success" tools!

Similar to a review book on audio, the ULTRA P.A.S.S. workbook provides a comprehensive written and narrated format of the topics listed on the ARDMS registry outlines. This workbook is designed so you can easily find a specific subject of study at any time. This spiral-bound workbook includes 209 pages, self-tests after each section and 5 digital audio CDs that can be played on current portable and car CD players or computer CD drives (system requirements: Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 or later, 2000, or XP, 16MB RAM) and a new companion DVD that features real-time exams illustrating various pathologies referenced in the workbook (DVD is compatible with set-top DVD players, DVD-Rom drives, DVD-R drives, and DVD+R drives).

A CME Quiz ($50.00 processing fee) can be submitted to Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute for 17.0 “AMA Cat.1” CME credits (also meets requirements for ARDMS), if needed.

Objectives

Upon completion of these modules, you should be able to accomplish the following:

  • Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics of the cerebrovascular system
  • Explain routine carotid duplex/color scanning protocols
  • Discuss patient presentation and common indications for ultrasound examination of the cerebrovascular system
  • Recognize characteristics of commonly seen carotid artery disease
  • List the various types of treatment for carotid artery disease
  • Compare the testing methods, interpretation, and limitations of arteriography, MR angiography, and computed tomography

Section II: VENOUS

  • Describe the anatomy and physiology associated with the deep and superficial venous system
  • Identify normal imaging characteristics deep and superficial venous system
  • Explain routine venous scanning protocols for the ultrasound evaluation of the upper and lower extremity
  • Discuss patient presentation and common indications for ultrasound examination of the venous system
  • Recognize imaging and Doppler characteristics associated with acute and chronic thrombosis and venous insufficiency
  • Discuss treatment methods for venous disease

Section III: PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL

  • Describe anatomy and physiology of the peripheral arterial system
  • Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics of the upper and lower extremity arteries
  • Explain routine scanning protocols for the duplex/color evaluation of the upper and lower extremity arteries
  • Discuss patient presentation & common indications for the non-invasive evaluation of arterial disease
  • Compare the testing methods, interpretation, and limitations of arteriography MR angiography, and computed tomography
  • Describe physiologic testing methods for evaluation of upper and lower extremity arterial disease
  • Discuss the various types of treatment for upper and lower extremity arterial disease

Section IV: ABDOMINAL / VISCERAL

  • Describe abdominal vascular anatomy and physiology
  • Identify normal imaging and Doppler characteristics associated with the abdominal vasculature
