Target Audience
Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) those involved with emergency medicine and trauma care involved in performing venous examinations in a trauma/emergency department setting. Also, sonographers who will be involved with performing venous examinations in a trauma/emergency department setting.
Objectives
After viewing this presentation, the participant should be able to:
- Explain routine protocols for evaluating lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT)
- State normal venous image and Doppler characteristics
- Describe sonographic qualities associated with the evaluation of acute and chronic DVT
- Discuss other potential etiologies for abnormal venous findings and/or patient symptoms
