This first volume of the Cardiac Case Studies DVD series is designed for the medical professional with a minimum of six months experience performing and/or interpreting cardiac ultrasound examinations. Each DVD features assorted case studies beginning with the patient clinical history. The participant will review each case study through different examination views and document the findings on an interpretation worksheet (included as PDF documents in each DVD). At the completion of each case study a summary of the diagnostic findings is provided along with a brief overview of the specific cardiac pathology as a reference. The DVD series is an ideal resource for enhancing interpretation skills and to improve recognition of cardiac disease. The DVDs are also an excellent registry preparation resources and complement the P.A.S.S. Registry Review Package.
After viewing this DVD, the participant should be able to: Identify 2D characteristics associated with commonly seen valvular heart disease; recognize color and spectral Doppler characteristics associated with valvular heart disease; apply quantitative measurements with 2D, color and spectral Doppler findings; correlate the clinical history with echocardiography findings; identify areas of weakness (concommitant pathology) that may require further study.
