This interactive CD-Rom program is designed for the sonographer and/or physician who has a desire to assess their level of knowledge in recognizing commonly seen carotid disease and accurately interpreting carotid duplex/color examinations.
The CD-Rom begins with a review of normal carotid characteristics and diagnostic criteria using duplex/color flow imaging techniques. Fourteen carotid case studies with a brief history and physical examination are provided to assess one’s ability to recognize commonly seen pathology and accurately interpret examinations.
After viewing this presentation, the participant should be able to:
- Demonstrate the application of Doppler criteria to internal carotid artery stenosis.
- Characterize various types of plaque.
- Discuss diagnostic parameters for evaluation of common carotid, external carotid, and inominate artery stenosis.
- Describe normal and abnormal spectral Doppler waveform characteristics.
- State suggestions for avoiding diagnosis pitfalls.
Target Audience
The target audie nce for this CD are physicians, sonographers, and medical professional with a minimum of three months experience in performing and/or interpreting carotid duplex/color examinations. Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) those involved with radiology, internal medicine, cardiology, general/vascular surgery, and emergency medicine.
